Last year, we actually got a lot of snow, considering we live in the South, but so far, we haven’t gotten any this winter. But last winter, I got to make some Snow Ice Cream. I know some of you are lucky enough to be getting snow this season,so I thought I’d share the recipe with those of you who have/will be getting snow.
Ingredients:
- 8 cups of fresh, fluffy snow. The FLUFFY part is the key; you don’t want the icy snow because then, it will taste like freezer burn. I know this from a book experience. I put a bowl outside to collect the snow as it’s falling.
- 1 can (14 oz) of sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
Directions:
- Place snow or shaved ice into a large bowl.
- Pour condensed milk over and add vanilla.
- Mix it all up.
- Eat it and enjoy!

It’s been so long since I’ve made snow ice cream, but you’ve inspired me to do it again. Now I’m actually excited for it to snow. Thanks, pal!
Good. You’re so lucky! And you’re welcome.
Just so you know….this is not how your GranGran made snow ice cream…sweetened condensed milk was not around when she learned how to make snow ice cream.
And just so you know…this post is Jan 27,2010…yea, I’m slow, but I am praying for SNOW…TOMORROW!!!
If it’s snowing in your area, take advantage of all that white stuff with this recipe. It’s a great way to get your toddler involved with nature and introduce to cooking. Experiment with other extracts like almond and mint. You can also try orange, lime or lemon extracts for a “sherbert” dessert, to make ice cream even creamier add 1/2 of a mashed banana, mix all ingredients together and eat!
